  Sean Kinkade started RC ornithopter development for the hobby market as a life long passion starting early in life. Throughout the 1980's and 1990's gradual progress was made with various prototype models. Breakthrough success finally came in 1998 with the gas powered VT-series of models which led to the 1999 release of the first production RC ornithopter in the world called the SkyBird.  The trend in RC around the time of the SkyBird was actually more towards electric power and especially smaller "park flyers" as battery, motor, and radio technology rapidly advanced.  Kinkade followed this trend which resulted in the development of the Park Hawk, the first production electric RC ornithopter.

 Today, our production kits include the Park Hawk, Slow Hawk, SunBird, Shrike, Yard Hawk, and the new Lazy Hawk with even larger RC ornithopters under development.  Our current line of ARF (almost ready to fly) electric kits have all of our latest refinements and improvements. Kinkade ornithopters duplicate natural flight as closely as possible while also merging technology and art.  Our products use brightly colored rip-stop fabric from the stunt kite industry for high visibility. They have no fixed or non-flapping wing surfaces, no props, no lifting bodies, and no vertical stabilizers.  Lift and thrust is obtained solely from the flapping wings just as with birds, bats, and insects. The unique articulated "rudder-vator" tail design provides precise control while resembling the tail of a bird.  Our kits are designed, CNC machined, and hand crafted in the USA.
